Dear friends and family, I only have a minute to write. I will be
having my last wisdom tooth taken out on Tuesday, then I can't do much
for a few weeks, so I want to write a quick note now. God has been so
good to us. His lessons are sometimes difficult, yet through the
trials we can feel His everlasting love. So often I resist His
trials, yet when they are finished, I can see that God is trying to
make me more like Him.
Adan our friend from Tonaempade was here for a few days this week. We
talked about the house in the jungle they are building for us. Also,
we talked about planting a garden for us( No stores in the middle of
the jungle) We will plant the usual things, yucca, plantains, papaya,
bananas, mangoes, etc. They will help us plant these things, and teach
us about growing them. I often wonder why God has chosen me for this.
I know it is His will, and He would not call me to it if He didn't
know that I can make it. It will be a hard life, and yet there will
be so many less distractions there. In many ways it is a much simpler
life. There are so many villages in the jungle where they have never
heard of the Savior. Please pray that God will prepare the way for
these people to accept His message.
Tomorrow we will be going to a village behind Cosat Azul, named Anzu.
There is a small work for the Lord there. There is a group of about
20 Christians, but the church has no pastor. The Pastor from the
church in my town, Napo just started going there on Sunday mornings
for a service. He goes at 8:00 then makes it back in time for the
service at the Napo church. Although the church is small, and he is
just starting here, he really has a heart to help others. He travels
a lot to help other churches and people who need help.
My family is doing well. The boys are keeping busy. They are slowly
picking up more work. Brother Elvis has been a bit down lately. He
was sick and he feels so tired now. But he still has the joy of the
Lord. In July he wants to start travelling more and holding tent
meetings. He really has a heart to do that work.
Love, Joyce
