Mark Update October 3, 2010

 Dear Friends and Brethren,

My mom passed on to her eternal rest this morning. I have appreciated your prayers these past weeks. I am so glad my mom has reached that eternal shore-although we will miss her dearly. The scriptures says "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints."
I can testify God has been true to His Word through it all and My heart wants to praise Him for this. Your continued prayers for my family is appreciated. I pray the Word of God will be preached and that it will be heard and that saving faith will spring forth from it. May God bless you as we continue our pilgrimage to the celestial city.
Sincerely, Mark Blosser and Family

Mark Update September 10, 2010

Dear Family, Friends and Brethren,
We rejoice in God our Father and in His Son the Lord Jesus Christ and in His Precious Spirit Who dwells within us and guides us into all Truth.
We want to thank you for your prayers on our behalf and on the behalf of His creation here in the jungles of Ecuador. He is a faithful Creator Who loves His creation more than we can conceive, but we believe.
Thank you for your notes of encouragement and concern over these past days since the accident. I had left of my last letter that I wanted to share with you what has been happening in the spiritual realm which we often overlook.
The Tagaeri are a people who have been held captive by the Wicked One for a long, long time. Satan uses fear to keep them isolated and lost. But God hath not given the Spirit of fear, but of  power and of love and of a sound mind.
Two years ago God asked me to come here and help a group of Huaorani believers bring His Word to these people- their relatives. They have been separated now for fifty plus years. When I asked what kind of help they needed- they said they needed help searching from the air so they could know where exactly they lived and how to get there.
Two Sundays ago, God spoke to me very firmly while my pastor preached about the 12 going to spy out the promised land. He said it is time to do this search. I have spent the last year and a half building a good relationship with these believers in Tonampari. They truly have a burden for their loved ones and display a knowledge of their responsibility to reach them. They need our prayers and encouragement.
After God spoke to me that Sunday, I entered into a time of fasting for His revealing of His plans more thoroughly. That week my sons and I were at CEMIM, a bible seminary that we attend for a week every other month. On Friday morning of that week, last week, I was compelled to share it with my brethren there. A couple of the pastors laid their hands on me and prayed for God's protection and guidance. I really cannot explain what happened within me other than to just say that my heart broke inside of me. The pain was intense and I could only groan as I cried. I was praying for the Tagaeri and my friends the Huaorani. God has revealed to me since that His Spirit took those prayers and my tears and petitioned God's throne according to His  mind and will.
That was about 8:30 in the morning. As our studies progressed that morning, God impressed upon my heart the need to go to a certain church in Tena that evening. I left early that day to be in Tena in time for that evenings service. In the service that evening, when it came time for the preaching of the Word, the pastor said he could not preach at that moment for he felt a great need to pray against the plans of the Devil. We entered into a time of prayer as the church cried out to God to break the devils plans. I, personally was asking God to send His angels to fight with the fallen angels and permit the Word of God to be preached.
About twenty minutes after prayer someone came and said I had a phone call. It was then I learned all our sons and Stephan were involved in the accident and that there was loss of life, but they were okay. This accident occurred while we were praying!
There is so much to testify to for His glory-but I see I have written so much already---very quickly then and to the point. Some of this may be way out there for some, but believe me when I say there is a spiritual war going on all around us and it is of utmost importance. We are all involved, whether we want to be or not.
After the hospital, about 3 in the morning, God spoke to me upon my bed. He said He did not want me on that bus, but wanted in that church praying with my brethren. I am so glad He did not reveal to me before what was going to occur- because as their father I would have wanted to be with my sons. He furthermore revealed to me that my groanings and tears of that morning were for my sons. We believe John was surrounded by angels as he was standing right near the point of impact, the area of the fatalities on the bus- but came through with only a welt on his back.
We know according to the book of Job, the Devil has to ask permission of God and can only touch what God permits. I believe he was saying- if you are going to try to come into my territory- I am going to come touch yours. God assured me -the battle and the victory are His. Hallelujah!
Tim was xrayed in Tena and found to have a broken jaw--they said it would require surgery and they could not do it there. We looked into doing it in Shell which is closer than Quito and less expensive, but it seemed God wanted us in Quito after talking to one of the doctors in Shell by phone.
We went to a  hospital in Quito Monday morning with a friend who lives in Quito. We no more walked through the front doors when she saw a man she knew from Tena. He was there because his daughter was in bad condition with an infection of some sort in her leg.
To make this much too long story short(er). Tim's xrays came back negative- no broken jaw! Before we left for Quito we all gathered in the living room and thanked God for His goodness to us and prayed for His protection in Quito. We asked God to heal Tim's jaw, stating that if He wanted to use a hospital and a doctor -- we would still acknowledge all healing comes from Him. We furthermore stated we believed He could fix it all by Himself and either way we would give Him the glory. We are writing this now to give Him the glory He deserves.
The best part- that father and daughter in the hospital have since placed their faith in Christ Jesus as their Savior and we know now why God wanted us in Quito! We look forward to discipling them in Christ back at home.
For we KNOW that ALL things work together for good- to those who love God and are called for His purpose!
Please pray with us as we will leave this coming Monday morning with a group of 12 young people- to visit and minister to the young people of Tonampari.
I am sorry for the length of this letter but not it's contents.
To God be the glory, great things He hath done- so loved He this world that He gave us His Son- Who yielded His life an attoinment for sin- and opened the life gates that ALL MAY GO IN!

Mark Update September 4, 2010

Psalm 34:7  The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
My dear friends and family, we are thankful to the Lord God Almighty! We are thankful for your prayers and intercession before God's throne on our behalf. A  note to inform and comfort as news can travel fast and sometimes grow out of proportion.
All four of our sons and Stephan, who is living with us for five months, were involved in a serious bus accident last evening. Although there were some  fatalities and many very serious injuries, they all were protected by God and escaped serious injury.
The most severe is Tim, our youngest. He received a deep cut above his right eye which has been stitched up with no injury to his eye. We will return to the hospital today for x-rays as he probably has a broken jaw and thumb.
Mark Alan and Paul, our oldest and second, each received gashes in the back of their heads. They have both been stitched up and it appears they are free from any other more serious injury to their heads.
Paul has some bruising and soreness in his neck muscles, but appears to be free of serious neck injury.
Mark Alan has a swollen area under his left eye but that also appears to be minimal.
Stephan is injury free. He puts it this way, " I am sorer from the soccer game the night before."
John, our second youngest, is free of injury other than a welt on his lower back.
The accident involved the bus and a truck which was loaded with propane gas cylinders. It was nearly head on, with the collision occurring at the passenger door corner. Thankfully the cylinders were empty or so we believe.
Thankfully the boys  were standing up as the bus was overly crowded. They said most of the seats were partly torn from their moorings and many of the more serious injuries occurred to those sitting. They feel the crowdedness was a blessing as it kept them from being thrown any great distance.
Just after impact the boys said there was a lot of confusion and screaming. They said there were a lot of odors, including gas, oil and rubber. They were able to help their fellow passengers exit the bus and comfort them also.  Although this has been difficult for them and traumatic for Joyce and I, we are glad they were where God wanted them and were a help in the time of need. We also trust God will use this for His will and glory.
This is what occurred in the physical realm in which we live. I want to share with you what occurred in the spiritual realm  but that will wait for now.
I do want to say this in closing as a testimony to Jehovah's love and faithfulness. John was standing on the steps behind the passenger's door and this area was the area of the fatalities and very serious injuries. The Lord sent His angel to preserve his life. We testify to this and thank the Lord!
Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

Mark Update August 21, 2010

Dear Friends, Family and Brethren,
Much is happening and has happened over the past month or two. Where to begin is the question. I think one of the greatest blessings has been the arrival of Steve, a friend of our family, who is planning on living with us for the next five months to experience missionary life here with us. He came full of expectation and desire to serve the Lord. He also came with many notes and letters which were a great blessing and encouragement. I still need to respond to them on an individual basis, but thank you for your thoughtfulness.
The Lord led us to a new village since Steve arrived. We were planning on visiting Puca Chicta, were we had brought food and other things after the flood this past April. Joyce, Steve, Fausto (a brother in our church) and I made the trip on a Sunday afternoon. We traveled for about ¾ of an hour by car to reach this village.
When we arrived we found that most the people were either at the river or in their gardens in the jungle so there were only a few to visit. The visits we made were good and I believe edifying to all. As we left, Fausto took a turn off the road for our return and we visited with the people as we came to them.
This led us to a village called Kachiwanushka where we experienced a wonderful visit with many, many children. They just kept coming and were hungry for love and the singing of God’s songs. I could tell some of the children were familiar with the songs we were singing.
Two days later I received a call from one of my brothers in the church who said a native missionary wanted to meet with me. It has been a wonderful blessing to get to know him- he told us of his early years (1992) of reaching the area of Kachiwanushka for Christ. It was a 2 or 3 hour canoe trip with about 2 hours walking included in total, before and after the canoe. (There is now a road that goes there.)
He went on to say that the church there had many difficulties and the adults aren’t attending, (sounds like spiritual immaturity, no?)—but one faithful servant is ministering to 90-100 children each Sunday!
We have since been back there twice with the missionary and had an opportunity to encourage the adults to return to their first love. We reminded them that their true treasure is their children and their children need faithful examples to follow. Let us pray together for this community, that the grace and mercy of God will prevail and that the love of Christ would shine forth from there.
We are also praying for our Father’s timing and provision to do an aerial search for the family members of Paa and Epe. This is one of the things they told me they needed help with 2 years ago. I believe once they know where they are and what is the best way to access the area, they will be obedient to what the Lord wants of them.
I also want to mention a newly married couple from the States who believe God wants them to come to Ecuador and help with the work of spreading the Gospel in the jungle area. Andy and Priscilla D’Varga need our prayers that God will provide what they need to follow His call for them.
Friends and brethren, I realize that God has anointed me with a calling and a message—all the things I think about, talk, write and especially preach about come from this calling. I am to do the work of the evangelist—to live the Gospel and preach it. To remind God’s people of the precious Gospel that has been left in our stewardship. To encourage us to give our lives, (our time, talents and material resources), for the Gospel. We each have the personal responsibility to love/warn others and we corporately, as the body of Christ, have the responsibility to go unto the ends of the world with this Gospel. And that Gospel simply is SAVING FAITH in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ. His death, His burial and His resurrection.  I say saving faith because there is a faith that is dead. A faith that does not save us from our sins, a faith that does not produce good works, (obedience to the Word of God), in us is not saving faith- it is false.
I want to share with you one of my most precious treasures upon this earth. ( I have a box of treasures that includes pictures, drawings and notes that have been given to me over the years by my wife, sons, mother, and a few close friends.)
This was written by one of my sons in 2005. This son in particular, I have seen the devil try to kill-and I watched the Lord send His angels to preserve his life. I have watched the devil try to deceive him and get him off track.
I share this to remind you what our earthly lives are about when we enter into a restored relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
I had a dream, and in my dream I was standing in a mud hut in Africa, talking with a young African man. After awhile I said to him, “I would like to meet the people who first told you the gospel. Could you please take me to see them?”
His face fell as he replied, “That is the problem, we do not have enough missionaries. As you well know there are many natives here who need the gospel, but there are not enough people who are willing to come bring us the gospel. No one wants to tell us. For hundreds of years my people have lived in darkness, waiting for someone to come and tell them how they can be free from their sins. Many of them have died without hearing about The Way, and now are suffering in a Christless eternity.”
I was touched by what he said, and started crying as I told him, “I will come tell your people about Jesus Christ, but first I must go home and make preparations to come and live here.”
He answered and said to me, “Are you sure that you will come back? Many people have said that, but few have returned.”
Then I awoke to find out that it was only a dream—but was it?

Dear parents, I plead with you, I have seen many a young heart hear God’s voice and want to give their life for the Gospel. All they needed was love, instruction and guidance. Unfortunately, what they received was a parent who wanted to save them and not lose them for the Gospel’s sake. The parent wanted a good, comfortable life for their child. A good profession, a good home- all the things a good parent would want! But we must look with eternal eyes-God has a plan for our children, we are only stewards for a short time.
I received a letter recently and it told me of a young boy who prays for brother Mark and wants to be a preacher, like brother Mark, when he grows up. I wept! I raised my hands to heaven and groaned in my spirit that God would bring it to pass according to His will.
Dear young people, there is no greater life than a life dedicated and consecrated to God and His plan for us. Yes, it is not comfortable at times—there is suffering and persecution involved- but a million years from now when time is no moreJJJ IT WILL BE WORTH IT ALL!!
Dear businessman, mechanic, printer, paperboy, baby sitter, lemonade seller—give of your treasure for the gospels sake! There is no investment upon this earth with greater gains. I do not ask for myself--- I ask for the gospels sake. I still give to missions. I will never, by the grace of God, stop giving of my earthly treasure to further the Gospel.
WHERE YOUR TREASURE IS-THERE WILL YOUR HEART BE ALSO.
Lay not up for yourselves treasure upon earth….but lay up for yourselves treasure in Heaven, where neither moth nor rust can corrupt; neither can thieves break through and steal.
May God bless you and use you for His honor and glory!

Mark Update August 16, 2010

Dear Friends, Family and Brethren,
My heart is heavy. I first turn to my  Heavenly Father and Saviour. I also turn to brethren in Christ. Your prayers are needed at this time, more than at others.
Before I left for Ecuador, my mom had a pretty sound mind- but was in the early stages of Alzheimer's. We spent much precious time together knowing it might be our last upon this earth. We both knew and understood that Gods call for me might be permanent.
As her memory has decreased over the time we have been here, it has been difficult for me. Each time I call she will ask me when I am coming home.
I want to ask you to pray for my mom and us-- I received these emails recently:

                        Hi,
Wanted you to know that Mom was admitted to Charlotte Hungerford
Hospital  last night.   She fell out of her bed and hit her head pretty
hard.   A Cat Scan was done and waiting for the results.
She had been more and more confused this past week, she had locked
herself in an upstairs bedroom one night and couldn't get out.   She
has been hallucinating and just lethargic.
At the hospital they found that her sodium level was low.  They are
going  to keep her and replace her fluids and observe her for the next
                       few days.
I can be reached  on  my cell

                       Hi,
Just an update on mom.  She had a bad night last evening, up agitated
and anxious.   When I came in this morning she was confused and blank.
She did not know who I was.   Her sodium level dropped to 122 today
down  from 128 yesterday.  The reason is unknown.   Dr. McHugh was in
this  am.,  she will be ordering a CT scan of her head to see if there
is a bleed or stroke,  a Ct of her chest to see if there is cancer in
her lungs and also a Ct scan of her abdomen to make sure there is not
a cancer there either.   Reason for low sodium can be water
intoxication,   cancer or kidney problems.  When the sodium level
drops they become lethargic, weak and confused and can eventually lead
                       to coma.
As the test results come back in I will let you know.   The bruising on
her face is under both eyes, nose and the whole left side of her face.
She is also grimacing and moaning.   She is having pain in her back
and stomach today.  I was able to get her Tylenol.
My cell is on,  I will be here with her.

                       Hi,
Dr. McHugh called last night and told me that they found a large lower
left lung mass.   This is what is causing her body to be depleted of
sodium.   The MD came in and told mom this morning but she really
doesn't comprehend.   Right now she believes that we are on the Hayes
farm in Canada. She is still pleasantly confused.  They will be doing
a biopsy today and tomorrow, and getting a Oncology consult tomorrow.
As for now I believe that everyone is aware.   Including extended
family.  My cell is on if you have any questions.
                       Love, Jen

We have such precious promises from our Father- I WILL NEVER LEAVE THEE NOR FORSAKE THEE,, YEA THOUGH I WALK THROUGH THE VALLEY OF THE SHADOW OF DEATH, I WILL FEAR NO EVIL; FOR THOU ART WITH ME, THY ROD AND THY STAFF THEY COMFORT ME,,  THERE IS NO MAN WHO HAS LEFT FATHER OR MOTHER, BROTHERS OR SISTERS OR CHILDREN OR HOME OR LAND FOR HIS SAKE AND THE GOSPELS, WHO SHALL NOT HAVE A HUNDREDFOLD IN THIS LIFE WITH PERSECUTIONS AND IN THE NEXT ETERNAL LIFE.

I know one day I will receive an email telling me that my mom has passed on to her eternal rest--- and for that I will be thankful because she has placed her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. But, none the less, it is a difficult time. The family is all well here and the Lord is working in each of us and through each of us. I am so very thankful and grateful for this. The different ministering is going well, but I will wait until another time to mention the details. The one thing I would like to mention is that many times we cannot do a particular thing we feel we ought to or reach a particular area we feel we can because we just don't have the resources financially. God has a purpose in this also and we look to Him for provision.
Thank you for your prayers for us and my mom.

Mark Update September 11, 2009

Hello from Ecuador, Here follows a letter to family and friends.           Please share it with others who might be edified an encouraged through it.
It has been a very difficult month for me. I am at a necessary but difficult place in my walk with God. When John said "He must increase and I must decrease", he spoke of something that I am learning is very continuous and ongoing. Paul said it this way. "I know in me, that is in my flesh, dwelleth no good thing." I embrace these lessons and discoveries on a deeper level. They are not fun or satisfying, only in the fact of God's eternal truth can I find rest, He will perform that which He has begun in me. I cry out with the apostle Paul, O wretched man that I am. Who shall save me from the body of this death. I THANK GOD, THROUGH JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD....
Enough of me, let's think of Him. He did the will of His Father, not His own. He left His home and His glory to come to this sin infested world. He had no place to lay His head nor call home. He truly loved His Father and His most precious creation, man. He gave, layed down His life and became that which He despised, sin. He loves us, let us follow Him! No, it will not be pleasant to the flesh or to the old man. That is why we groan for the redemption of this corruptible body. That is why there is a desire to depart and be with Him.
I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice, and it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith, and be closer drawn to Thee.
Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord, by the power of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope, and my will be lost in Thine.
O the pure delight of a single hour, that before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God; I commune as friend with friend!
There are depths of love that I cannot know, till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach; till I rest in peace with Thee.
DRAW ME NEARER, NEARER BLESSED LORD, TO THE CROSS WHERE THOU HAST DIED.
DRAW ME NEARER, NEARER, NEARER BLESSED LORD, TO THY PRECIOUS, BLEEDING SIDE.
I am headed into the jungle interior in a day or two. I am planning to spend some time in two Huaorani villages that I have visited before and have begun forming friendships with the believers there. I intend to spend the time in prayer and fasting along with much time in God's Word. I am hopeful that some of the believers will join in.
The Huaorani believers, that I have met, have a desire to reach out to the lost of the jungle, especially their relatives who fled further into the jungle when the five missionaries were killed in the 50's. Some of the believers I have met are getting well up in years and want their family to be at peace with God. As I wrote last month, there is a conference of Huaorani believers in mid October. I believe there will be discussions amongst the church as how to proceed in reaching out to these relatives. These relatives are still an isolated people and I believe, still dangerous. Prayer is of utmost importance! The mind, will and heart of God is what is needed. The arm, mind and will of man must decrease to nothing.
Encamped along the hills of light, ye Christian soldiers, rise.
And press the battle ere the night shall veil the glowing skies.
Against the foe in vales below let all our strength be hurled.
Faith is the victory, we know, that overcomes the world.
His banner over us is love, our sword the Word of God.
We tread the road the saints above with shouts of triumph trod.
By faith, they like a whirlwind’s breath, swept on o’er every field.
The faith by which they conquered death is still our shining shield.
On every hand the foe we find drawn up in dread array.
Let tents of ease be left behind, and onward to the fray.
Salvation’s helmet on each head, with truth all girt about,
The earth shall tremble beneath our tread, and echo with our shout.
To him that overcomes the foe, white raiment shall be given.
Before the angels he shall know his name confessed in heaven.
Then onward from the hills of light, our hearts with love aflame,
We’ll vanquish all the hosts of night, in Jesus’ conquering Name.
FAITH IS THE VICTORY! FAITH IS THE VICTORY! O GLORIOUS VICTORY, THAT OVERCOMES THE WORLD.
My heavenly Father has asked me to come here and help them. I am still not sure what all that entails, but I do know in whom I have believed. I know that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him. The closer I get the fiercer the warfare. The enemy is mad, God's Spirit is moving amongst the peoples of the jungle.
Your prayers over this next month or six weeks will be of great help. I only desire to do what God desires of me. No more, and certainly no less.

Mark Update August 3, 2009

Hello to all. Hope this letter finds you rejoicing in Jesus. He is coming! May God bless you as you follow Him. Here follows a letter I am sending to friends and family:
Hello from Ecuador,
I have much to be thankful to God for, which I would like to communicate to you.  I have been experiencing very good health for 3 to 4 weeks now. I believe this is because of prayer. I thank and praise God for this! It is not fun being sick for a prolonged period of time. Thank you for your prayers on my health's behalf. When we finally arrive at home, there will be no more sickness!
I am just finishing a second tract. (I reproduce them. We do not have access to a lot of tracts down here, so I format them on the computer and then make copies. We fold them by hand and cut them with scissors.)  This tract is on the same lines as the wordless book. It is about a bracelet with colored beads and it describes the meanings of the colors. We have made little bracelets like the ones in the tract. We are planning to go to a village tomorrow which Joyce has visited once before. Its name is Costa Azul, which translates to Blue Coast. We plan on passing out the tracts and bracelets to the children.  She has told me that we will walk down a dirt road that is off the main road which we live on. I have walked to the dirt road before; it is about a 45 minute walk from our house. Joyce has said it is a long walk down that dirt road until you come to a small village. She had visited a friend there a few months back and has been looking forward to returning. It is my understanding that this village does not have a church that believes and preaches and lives the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Prayer will be effective here also!
Lord willing, Mark Alan, Paul and I will fly out to Tonampade this coming Wednesday, the 5th of August. This is a very important trip! Please pray that God's will prevails. God's plans and ways are so far above us. Faith is such an important aspect of our lives. “Trust in the Lord with ALL thine heart, and lean not unto THINE OWN understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge HIM, and He shall direct thy paths."
We have researched the other avenues of getting out to the villages in the interior of the jungle. These are by foot or canoe. I look forward to using both these in the near future. We are planning to walk to Tonampade, Lord willing, in September. We would take a bus about 2 hours to the end of the bus route in that direction. At that point, it is either a 30 minute car ride to the end of the road or a 3 hour walk. When you come to the end of the road, it is then a 5 to 8 hour walk to Tonampade, depending on who you talk to. I would like to have a guide who is a believer and Spirit filled. Prayer will be a great help here also. By canoe, I am told it is a two day trip to Tonampade.
I have been invited to a conference in Tonampade in mid-October.  It is a gathering of Huaorani believers from many different villages. I met the president of the community of Tonampade last week in Shell. He told me of the conference and some exciting news about plans the Huaoranis are making. Exciting, because they line up with what God has been speaking to me about the last couple of years. They want to fly over the area of the jungle where their lost relatives live and play messages of greetings and desires to make contact. They are talking of doing this for 3 days. Let us support them with prayer!
Well, I am finishing up this letter a day after Joyce and I went to Costa Azul. She was right, it was ALOT of walking. It was such a blessing to be doing the work of the Lord that He has for us to do. We ended up in a village named Pioculin. It is a Quechua village. There is a great need of the Lord there and we plan on returning soon. The seeds we planted yesterday will bear fruit one day, I believe.
Just a few closing thoughts that God has laid upon my heart. I believe He wants to encourage someone in this. It is such a wonderful blessing to live a life of faith. There are many difficulties along the road, but they are there to bring us further down the road to total dependence upon God. If God has called you to do something, He will never leave you alone in it. Trust Him; you will be so glad you did!
Please share this with someone who will be encouraged in the things of the Lord.

Mark Update June 16, 2009

Hello From Ecuador, (Hola De Ecuador)
God bless you! ( Dios te bendiga!) I like to learn Spanish. (Me gusta aprender español.) Today is Tuesday, June 16th. ( Ahoya es martes dieciséis de junio.) I am writing this letter on my computer.(Estoy escribiendo esta carta en mi computadora.) Later, Lord willing, I am going to the internet place to send this to you. (Voy a sitio de el internet mañana, Señor dispuesto, mandar  esta lo di.) Please forgive my mistakes. (Perdón mis errores, por favor.)  I want to learn more Spanish. (Quiero aprender más español.)
Jesucristo es Dios! El Padre de Jesús es mi Padre también. Abba Padre! Jesucristo es mi Salvador, y mi Señor, y mi Pastor también.
( Jesus Christ is God! The Father of Jesus is my Father also. Daddy! Jesus Christ is my Savior, and my Lord, and my Shepherd also.)
I will follow Thee my Savior, where ere the pathway may go. Through the storms or through the valleys or through great trials below. I'll rest in Thee. I'll trust in thee. I place my life in Thy hands. I will follow Thee my Savior, lead on dear Shepherd lead on.
I am rejoicing in the Lord. His grace is sufficient for me. His joy is my strength. I am beginning to get acclimated to my new life here. The key word is beginning! It really is a whole different life then I was used to. I am sure it will all come into perspective and place as I let God teach me the things I need to learn. I certainly do wish I had applied myself to Spanish in seventh grade the way I ought to have. Young people, please learn from my mistake-- your studies are going to be a great benefit to you in your future. Please apply yourself to them for the Lord's glory and pleasure.
My digestive system is going through quite a shock getting used to the food and water here. I have been quite sick for the past 6 weeks or so. I  have had a few days here and there when I thought I was getting over it. God is teaching me much through it all though, and I am glad for that. Suffering does play a big part in the way of Christ, and it can do a good work in us if we let it.
We are enjoying being together as a complete family again. It has given us all extra opportunities to learn and express the love of God for our closest neighbors! I am so thankful for the precious Holy Spirit of God! I cannot love the way I am commanded to (and the way I truly want to) without His presence and power.
Joyce and I have been able to go to a few villages together, (on the perimeter of the jungle), and are making friendships with the believers with the hope of being a blessing and a help. There are so many villages, the harvest truly is plenteous. The labourers truly are few! Let us each pray the Lord of the harvest, that He would send more labourers into His harvest field. The perimeter of the jungle is accessible by roads. I am seeking God's will about a trip into the jungle interior to continue building a relationship with the people God has called me to help.
We have a wonderful ministry of reconciliation given to us. Let us labor together with Christ, as the night is coming when our opportunity will be over. Let us not be weary in well doing, for in due season we SHALL reap IF we faint not. Let us keep our spiritual eyes fixed upon the Author and Finisher of our faith.
Please pray for these areas:
1.)  Continued grace in learning Spanish. (also some beginning steps in learning Woarani- the tribal language.)
2.)  Health- as we continue to get used to the food and water.
3.) Wisdom and the Spirits fruits in my relationships within our family.
4.) Wisdom, faith and obedience with regard to a trip into the jungle interior soon.

Mark Update February 7, 2009

A quick note to thank you for your faithful prayers for us. I will return to US in a few days and apply for visa in NYC. We have just about all the documents we think they are requiring.
My experiences are showing me that many( probably the majority) of the kings of this earth (governments) do not like those governments and peoples of those governments that bless Israel.
Make no mistake in our hearts----- it will cost us to bless Israel as well as preaching the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Let us count the cost, put our hand to the plough, don't look back and serve our Lord as we have time and breathe to. Thank you for you prayers and may Jesus be magnified and glorified.  Sincerely, Mark and Joyce

Mark Update December 12, 2008

Just a quick note to say hello and to forward, what is becoming to me, some very precious information. I hope you will look into the information about this orphanage in Ecuador. Please pray that God will use us to be a blessing to this orphanage.
For those of you who have not heard this yet, I was about two days away from leaving Ecuador and returning to the US when I first heard of Patti Sue and the orphanage. One of our goals this past trip was to secure longer term visas. After almost 3 weeks of my heavenly Father bringing me to one closed door after another, I was sitting at my missionary brother Rick's table discussing all the forms that he had to fill out when his wife, Sharon, said "what about Patti Sue?"
One of the problems we were experiencing, being missionaries who are going by faith as 'tent makers', is that we do not have a mission board or institution standing with us. The Ecuadorian government requires an invitation and a guarantee from a recognized institution before they will consider granting a missionary visa. It seemed all the other types of visas were closed to us or did not suit us at this time.
Sharon then called Patti Sue and told her of our situation. She graciosly, and I beleive by God's sovereign hand, said she would extend, to us, all the things we need from that end to receive a volunteer/missionary visa. PRAISE THE LORD FOR HIS PROVISION!
Although my primary call to Ecuador is to encourage and help the beleivers in Tonampade to bring the Word that they have received to the other villages who have not heard yet, Joyce and I have always enjoyed working with children in our ministering. Joyce trained all our sons to bake bread and I have heard there is a great need for bread at the orphanage. So we see our Father's hand and plan in all of this.
Once again, thank you for your prayers, and please add this sister and the orphanage to your heart. May God richly bless you as we labour together with Christ. Your brother, Mark.
  • Dear Friends,
I can't believe another year has come and gone and we are that much closer to standing face to face with our Lord and Savior.
Thank you all for your continued support and prayers. This team would not be complete without each one of you. God has shown me that 2009 is going to be an amazing year. I am looking forward to each and every miracles He is about to show us and to drawing closer to Him in the trials and the blessings.

    In His embrace
    Patti Sue

Mark Update November 27, 2008

A quick hello from Ecuador. It has been a very good trip to this point. We have found a place to live that we know is directly from our heavenly Father. It is on the river Napo in a small village which has the same name. We are still working on all the things we'll need to secure a longer term visa. I will have to take care of that when I return, as they will not allow it to be done from here. Paul and I will return next week,Thur. Dec. the 4TH. Tomarrow, Fri., I will go into the interior of the jungle to visit the village of Tonapade. Please pray in earnest that God´s will be done in every way. This village and it`s desire to bring God's Word to their relatives in the jungle is the primary reason God has called me to come here. Thank you for your faithful prayers.  Because Jesus Lives and Reigns, Mark

Joyce Update September 5, 2011

Dear friends and family,
It is hard to think of the changing seasons in the U.S.  It is always
summer here, with a rainy season that lasts a few months.  This year
was more rainy than usual, but there was no flooding.  It seems to be
about over now.
A very tragic thing happened in Ecuador about a month ago.  Someone
that works in a brewery put a poison in some alcohol.  There were
several brands involved.  It is very toxic to people and the damage
was wide-spread.  The reports are that about 50 people died, and up to
500 have severe liver damage and blindness.  The substance eats away
at the optic nerves.  So many lives were changed in such a short time.
Last week I had the privilege to help translate for a medical team
that was here from the U.S. I had the job of asking the patients what
their medical concerns were and translating for the Americans to write
down.  I was happy for 2 reasons.  1-I now know enough Spanish to be
able to translate.  This was good for me to learn, because I honestly
didn't think I would be able to.  There were only about 4 people that
I needed to get someone to help me understand what they were saying.
2- I was able to spend time helping the Ecuadorian people and also the
Americans.  The ladies I worked with were so nice to me.  The week was
a blessing.
One man came in with his wife.  As they came to our table, I realized
that this man was not able to see.  He sat down and I asked him why he
was here today.  He told me that he drank some of this tainted
alcohol, and he became blind in a very short period of time.  It
really broke my heart to meet him.  It is one thing to hear this news
from other sources, it is another to meet a victim and talk to them
face to face.  Not only were his eyes blank, his face was also.  He
just talked like he was reciting facts.  He was so stoic.  I was able
to tell him that our only hope is in Jesus Christ, and His name has
power.  I also wished him God's blessing on his life.  What else can
you say?  They seemed encouraged by the words.  I had to take a minute
before I could talk to anyone else.  I was deeply affected by this.  I
was not able to sleep that night, and had to finally pray and give
this man and my feelings to God.  Whether someone is a vessel of honor
or dishonor to God, God is holy and Justified in allowing anything to
happen to His creation.
I want to be faithful in touching the lives that God puts in my path.
We all need to do this wherever God leads us.  A man whose parents
were missionaries when he was younger put it this way...But as my
father used to say, there are many people who yearn to serve the Lord
in a country where they don't know the language, in a culture they
don't understand, eating food they don't like, in a difficult climate,
and all the while they are surrounded by the lost, and they don't
bother reaching out to their neighbor, who speaks their language, who
would gladly accept an offer to come over for a meal, whose culture
they understand implicitly, and in a climate in which they were
raised.  Let us all be faithful to the work of the Lord.  Love and
blessings, Joyce
