Joyce Update January 28, 2010

Dear Friends,
Right now Mark is in the jungle.  The people in Tonampade are talking
about building us a house there, and Mark is finding out all the
details.  Besides this, his heart has been calling him back there
lately.  The house, I think, would be a native Huarani which would be
more like a hut. So, Lord willing, I will be getting my hut after all.
I have been very scared lately about moving there, not because of
spears and snakes, but because I'm afraid that I won't be able to make
it, that the road will be too hard.  Please pray for me.  It is
difficult for me to share this so openly with everyone.
When Mark gets back, hopefully with a few visitors, they will be
travelling to another part of the jungle, closer to where the
unreached people are.  Please pray that in the future, they can be
reached with the Gospel.  They are part of the Huaoranis.  They are
called the last unreached people group in Ecuador.
We have sad news this month.  The missionary pilot's 2 year old
grandson drowned.  The mother is really having a difficult time.  I
don't know her, I can only imagine how devastating this would be to a
mom.  Please pray that she can experience the peace of God.
My wisdom teeth are still giving me trouble.  It seems like I have
taken enough antibiotics and antiinflammatories for 10 people by now.
I have 1 more to go, but I am waiting for the last one to be healed,
which it seems that it doesn't want to do.  God sure is trying to
teach me a lot.  His grace is sufficient.  I really feel that I am
learning patience through all this.  I still fail every time, but at
least it is taking me longer, so I guess I am moving in the right
direction.
Brother Elvis is busy building a house for his family.  It will be
nice for his family to be out of their 2nd floor apartment.  There
will be room for the children to play outside.  It is exciting. The
boys are helping him.
I have been busy teaching my new English class.  I really like it, and
the children are learning a lot.  It is fun.
I am out of beads to make the bracelets to go with the tracts I have.
Please pray that I can find them in Tena.  It is not looking very
hopeful.  I might have to travel to Banos, about 3 hours away.  It is
in my heart to go to the villages every Saturday and pass out tracts.
Also, to go back to Costa Azul to have a simple Bible class for the
children.  I have coloring books about Jesus to pass out.
All is going well.  We have been busy lately, and it seems that it is
in all different directions.  There is much work to do for the Lord
here.  Please pray that God will send laborers into His harvest, here
and in all the world.
Love, Joyce
